The Tennessee Professional Fire Fighters Association held its 2010 Legislative Conference February 15-17. The conference attendees numbered 60 members representing 17 locals. During the legislative conference our members heard from guest speakers Deputy Governor John Morgan, State Representative Ty Cobb, Representative and Democratic Caucus Chair Mike Turner, and IAFF 14th District Vice President Danny Todd. Attendees also participated in two IAFF Partnership Education Program (PEP) seminars conducted by IAFF 14th District Field Service Representatives Thomas Malone and Pete Reagan. This year's seminar subjects were "Writing Contract Language" and "The Municipal Financial Analysis's". After reviewing pertinent legislation and lobbying instruction from TPFFA Lobbyist Kathleen Murphy, members went to Capitol Hill and met with over 60 legislators to discuss TPFFA legislation. Feedback from several of those legislators indicated that the 2010 conference was a great success.
