U.S. Legislative Conference
Every year, the IAFF U.S. Legislative Conference brings fire fighters and emergency medical workers together to speak up for their rights and interests. At this event, you will get informed on the current legislative agenda, network with other IAFF members and leaders, and visit your Congressional offices.

This conference is where you’ll learn about IAFF priority legislation and have the opportunity to advocate directly with legislators and their staff on key issues impacting fire fighters’ jobs, health, safety, retirement, and economic security.
"The Alfred K.Whitehead Legislative Conference has long been the cornerstone of the IAFF’s legislative efforts. Over the years, the IAFF has won many significant victories – from repealing the WEP and GPO penalties on retirees, adding occupational cancer as an LODD under the federal PSOB Program, creating a national firefighter cancer registry, establishing the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) program that promotes safe staffing, and ensuring the first responders of 9/11 receive the health care they deserve – due in large measure to the work of Local IAFF Leaders at this conference. Registration is now open. We look forward to seeing you in a few weeks." - Chris “Blue” Bartley, Assistant to the General President, Government Affairs and Political Action
