General Policies, Rules and Regulations of the State Association
- The secretary/treasurer of the State Association shall not reimburse any member for any expenses incurred on behalf of this Association without a properly completed signed expense voucher together with full documentation including any receipts. All receipts must be turned in within sixty (60) days following the month in which the expense is incurred. [State Convention September 29, 1995]
- The compensation for the president and secretary/treasurer will be set in the TPFFA Budget and approved by delegates at the TPFFA Biennial Convention and adjusted by the secretary/treasurer each January 1st in accordance with the TPFFA Constitution and By-Laws, Article VIII, Section 3, dealing with CPI adjustments to the per capita and the budget. - Policies shall be identified by date and whether they are convention or Executive Board action. Electronic copies of the policies shall be posted on the State Association website and electronic copies will be provided to any local at any time per the local’s request. - The TPFFA will reimburse the cost of the IAFF Charter Fee for any new Local that affiliates with TPFFA within three months of becoming an IAFF Local [Executive Board June 17, 2010]
- The State Association will compensate members for lost time due to State Association business, when deemed necessary by the Executive Board. [Executive Board March 13, 1996]
- The State Association is to provide a credit card for the president and secretary/treasurer with a limit to be set by the TPFFA Executive Board. [State Convention October 3, 2009]
- The State Association does not contribute to any fundraisers other than the Tennessee Fire Fighters Emergency Fund and the State Associations PAC. [Executive Board July 15, 1998]
- The TPFFA is to pay the monthly fee for the president’s and secretary/treasurer’s cellular phone service. [Convention September 2007]
- TPFFA shall pay for internet service for the president and secretary treasurer. [October 2, 2015, Convention Memphis, TN]
- This State Association shall join the Federation of State and Provincial Fire Fighters. [March 1, 1993, Nashville, TN]
- The legal counsel for the TPFFA shall be chosen by the President and approved by the Executive Board. In addition, the Executive Board shall be informed of the intent to change legal council before any change may be made. [Executive Board June 17, 2010]
- The President of this State Association shall have the right to spend an amount up to $1000.00 per month, without permission of the Executive Board, providing proper vouchers are submitted. [May 19, 1994, Memphis, TN]
- The State Association does not contribute to any fund raisers other than the Tennessee Fire Fighter’s Emergency Relief fund and the State Association’s PAC. [July 15, 1998, Nashville, TN]
- The TPFFA shall provide one room for each TPFFA Local for the first and second night of the annual "Frank D Stephens Legislative Conference" starting with the 2017 conference. The rooms will be blocked by the TPFFA, but it shall be the responsibility of the locals to contact the Secretary Treasurer of the TPFFA and confirm their room. After a date specified each year by the TPFFA, rooms that have not been reserved shall be opened up for a period of one week to all locals to reserve one extra room at no cost to the local until the block is filled. After one week if there are any remaining rooms available they will be open to any local who still needs additional rooms until the block is filled. All rooms in addition to the first will be assigned by the Secretary Treasurer in the order they are requested. The funds to carry out this proposal shall be taken from the Special Events Account unless otherwise directed by the TPFFA Executive Board. [Executive Board March 14, 2016, Nashville, TN]
